IBPS Specialist Officer Selection Process
Preliminary Examination: This is the first stage of the selection process. It consists of objective-type questions and is conducted online. The Preliminary Examination serves as a qualifying exam for the Main Examination.
Main Examination: Candidates who qualify for the Preliminary Examination will be shortlisted for the Main Examination. The Main Examination is more specialized and tests the candidates’ professional knowledge relevant to the post they have applied for.
Interview: Candidates who clear the Main Examination will be called for an interview. The Nodal Bank will coordinate the interview process in each state/UT/Region. The interview is the final stage of the selection process, after which successful candidates will be provisionally allotted to participating banks.
Examination Schedule
The IBPS SO examination is conducted in two phases: the Preliminary Exam is scheduled to take place in November 2024, with results expected in November/December 2024. The Main Examination will follow in December 2024. Candidates who qualify for the Main Exam will be invited for interviews, expected to take place in February/March 2025. The provisional allotment of posts will be made in April 2025.
