The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination twice annually. This exam serves as a gateway for recruitment into various prestigious Indian defence academies, including the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and Indian Air Force Academy. The next session, UPSC CDS 2024 (II), is scheduled to take place on September 1, 2024.

The exam follows a specific structure, testing candidates in subjects like English. The admit card, an essential document for exam participation, is expected to be available on the UPSC’s official website in August 2024. Candidates will need to visit the UPSC website, locate the admit card download link, and enter their registration number and date of birth to access their admit card. It is recommended to download and print this document well in advance of the exam date.

The online application process for the UPSC CDS 2024 (II) started on 15th May 2024 and ended on 4th June 2024. Candidates who have successfully submitted their applications can download their e-Admit Cards from the UPSC website upsc.gov.in. Keep in mind that the e-Admit Card will not be sent by post.

Examination Schedule

The UPSC CDS II examination is scheduled to take place on 1 September 2024 at multiple exam centres with the purpose of selecting qualified candidates. The CDS Exam will begin with the English paper from 9 to 11 AM, followed by the General Knowledge paper from 12 to 2 PM, and will conclude with the Elementary Mathematics paper from 3 PM to 5 PM.

CDS Paper Pattern and Exam Scheme

  • The UPSC CDS exam will be held offline.
  • The question paper language will be Bilingual.
  • A total of three sections will be included in the test, namely English, GK, and Elementary Mathematics.
  • However, those applying for the Officers Training Academy are only tested in English and General Knowledge.
  • Candidates will have 2 hours for each section.
  • Each section will carry 100 marks.

CDS Exam Admit Card Details

The admit card is an essential document for appearing in the examination. It contains crucial information, including the candidate’s name, roll number, photograph, signature, exam date, time, and the venue details of the examination centre. Candidates must download and print their e-Admit Card from the UPSC website and carry it along with a valid photo ID to the examination centre.

The admit card is used for verification purposes and must be preserved until the entire recruitment process is completed. Without the admit card, candidates will not be permitted to enter the examination hall.
